About

CSI is comprised of over 130 local Chapters and it is at this level of The Construction Specifications Institute where the true essence of CSI resides.  The Crandic Chapter was incorporated in 1986, so we have been a strong presence in our community for over 30 years.  The name “Crandic” is actually an acronym, which stands for Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, the 2 major metropolitan areas in this region of Eastern Iowa.  We share the name Crandic with the local railroad route, which roughly covers the same area of the state.

The Crandic Chapter has a very diverse mix of members, including architects, specifiers, manufacturer’s representatives, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and students.  We are actively seeking to grow our roster and to become even more relevant within the construction community in our portion of the world.

We are governed by our Board of Officers and our Chapter Bylaws, both of which you can check out by clicking on the appropriate links on this website.

We offer an annual Memorial Scholarship Award to a deserving student attending Kirkwood Community College, which was created in honor of one of our former members, Colonel William S. Peterson (USMC, Retired).  This award gives $1,000 per school year to a selected 2nd Year Student in the Architectural Technology, Interior Design, or Construction Management programs at the Cedar Rapids campus of Kirkwood Community College.  The recipient is selected by the faculty of the college and the scholarship is administered by the Kirkwood Foundation.  The Crandic Chapter feels that it is essential to support the students who will be eventually entering the construction community in the future and to help build a bridge between the Chapter and Kirkwood College.
