Mass Timber Revitalization

Course Description:  This course aims to demonstrate the environmental benefits of mass timber in comparison to other building materials.  The design and construction process will be presented through the use of a case study local to Des Moines, IA.

Learning Objectives:

• Discuss material harvesting / material fabrication of mass timber.
• Show the benefits of mass timber design & construction process.
• Understand mass timber’s applicability with current building codes.
• Understand the long-term benefits of a mass timber building.
